INTO A HEALTHY LIFE
Understanding Chiropractic
What exactly is chiropractic?
Symptoms are just the tip of the iceberg.
Your path to lasting stability
A healthy nervous system does not develop overnight—it needs to be trained. Poor posture and movement patterns that have become ingrained over many years can be corrected with adjustments, but only changed permanently through consistency.
Our chiropractic care therefore follows a clear principle: we build on each other step by step. Similar to training, your body learns to let go of old patterns and find new stability in three phases. Together, we give your system the time it needs for true regeneration.
CORRECTION PHASE
The starting signal for your nervous system
In this phase, we specifically resolve the stuck nerve disorders. Since your body cannot maintain the new alignment for long at the beginning, the adjustments take place in at short intervals. It's like learning a new sport: at the beginning, your system needs frequent stimuli to break through the old, incorrect pattern and adopt the correct position.
stabilization phase
Strengthen the foundation
Your body will now begin to retain the adjustments for longer. We will increase the intervals between appointments, while we continue to work on permanently correcting your posture. During this phase, your nervous system will adjust to the new balance and become noticeably more resilient for everyday life.
strengthening phase
Care for your full potential
Health is not a goal, but a journey. This phase is about ongoing maintenance your nervous system. Through regular checkups, we identify and correct new misalignments (subluxations) before they can lead to noticeable problems. This ensures long-term vitality and optimal performance.
Health is not a static state, but a dynamic process.
We provide you with professional support throughout each of these phases to help you reach your full potential.
FREQUENT QUESTIONS
WHEN IS TREATMENT RECOMMENDED?
Chiropractic is suitable for all age groups. Whether young or old, we all want to be healthy and stay that way into old age. There is always the possibility to change something in our lives for the better, be it mental or physical complaints. Everyone has the potential for a healthy life and a functioning body.
Basically, the earlier problems are recognized, the easier and sooner subluxations can be corrected. On the other hand, it is never too late to do something for your health.
Even at over 80 years of age, people still have unimagined self-healing powers. As long as we are alive, our body and brain can heal if the internal connections are working and our nervous system is intact.
CAN I BENEFIT FROM CHIROPRACTIC EVEN IF I HAVE NO PAIN?
Most of our patients come in regularly for adjustments to maintain and optimize their well-being and to treat problems as they arise. These patients often do not have any specific problems.
Most problems or pain develop slowly, without being noticed at first. Some symptoms that are often not associated with the spine and nervous system include: Poor sleep quality, low energy, high stress levels, concentration problems, digestive issues, and many more.
It's worth taking a closer look here!
For this reason, we offer a comprehensive initial anamnesis to find the cause of the problem.
IS THE ADJUSTMENT PAINFUL?
No. The blocked joints are treated with targeted, gentle impulses. This restores the function of a joint and removes the disruptive influence on our nervous system and thus on the muscles and control of the organs.
The reactions after an adjustment vary greatly. As the body is subjected to unaccustomed strain and has to adapt to the change, sore muscles or temporary tiredness can occur after the adjustments, for example. However, this is generally unproblematic and relatively natural if a joint has become mobile again after a very long time or if muscles that have been permanently tense recently have been loosened up again.
WHAT RESULTS CAN CHIROPRACTIC ACHIEVE?
The results of chiropractic are different for each person, as each person is unique and we perceive them as such. Many patients report a surge of energy, others report sleeping better or being able to concentrate and focus better, still others say they are more productive or have noticed an improved ability to resist illness.
WHY DOES IT CRACK WHEN ADJUSTING?
Joints of the spine, so-called facet joints, form a small vacuum when they are displaced (subluxated). If the joints are now brought into their normal position, the vacuum can be released and produce a “cracking” sound. This is harmless and can also be observed when you crack your fingers.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES TO CHIROPRACTIC OR MANUAL THERAPY?
Modern chiropractic is an independent, holistic, highly precise and gentle system for treating the whole body. It is important to note that modern American chiropractic is not the same as the chiropractic treatment sometimes offered by doctors and alternative practitioners in Germany.
As a rule, there are fundamental differences in the training (short weekend seminars for chiropractors, full-time studies lasting several years for chiropractors) and diagnosis, as well as in the techniques used. In modern chiropractic, there is no painful tugging or pulling on the patient. In contrast to other methods of manual medicine, bones and joints are never moved beyond their natural range of motion. This is where chiropractic adjustment differs fundamentally from other methods.
All chiropractors at Chiropractic Center Berlin have completed several years of full-time chiropractic studies, hold the title M.Sc in Chiropractic and belong to the Deutsch- Amerikanischen Gesellschaft für Chiropraktik e.V. to.
WHAT ARE THE RISKS INVOLVED IN ADJUSTMENT?
Our chiropractors belong to the DAGC (German-American Chiropractic Association). Thanks to our many years of training and practical experience, we know how to correctly assess any risks. The treatment methods we use are a safe form of treatment for conditions of biomechanical origin. We will, of course, explain any individual risks to you in detail during the initial consultation.
CAN I GET PREVENTIVE TREATMENT?
Yes, definitely.
Your spine can also be examined regularly, allowing problems to be eliminated early on before major damage occurs and pain develops. Have yourself and your family examined regularly by a professional chiropractor.
Regular check-ups and adjustments are therefore advisable, as individual fixations and/or malfunctions of the vertebrae do not necessarily lead to immediate irritation in the body. The patient may not feel any pain or have any restrictions in movement. Symptoms only appear when the problem has existed for a long time and the body has reached its regulatory limits. A well-trained chiropractor can detect and adjust this malfunction during regular examinations before changes occur in the muscle, organ, and joint systems.
This can be compared to a visit to the dentist: A hole in the tooth must be treated professionally. After the healing process, however, it is important to maintain further care in order to prevent further damage to the tooth structure. This is why we go for prophylaxis (dermatologist, gynecologist, dentist, etc.). This applies equally to the muscular, joint and nervous system.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT?
Chiropractic treatments are particularly recommended during pregnancy. The physical changes during pregnancy are immense and place a great strain on the body. In order to make pregnancy as comfortable as possible, pregnant women regularly come for treatment. Special gentle techniques are used here that can reduce the discomfort experienced by the pregnant person. Among other things:
- back pain
- acid reflux
- pelvic obliquity
- headache and migraine
Please let us know before treatment if you are pregnant.
TO WHAT EXTENT IS PREVENTIVE ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICALLY FOR ATHLETES BENEFICIAL?
In competitive and professional sport, modern chiropractic is one of the elementary parts of treatment and is therefore indispensable. Of course, this also applies to amateurs, hobby and amateur athletes.
Chiropractic treatment not only improves recovery from injuries, but above all optimizes performance and movement ergonomics. Adjustments before and during competitions help athletes achieve maximum performance.
